Aircraft Twirls Uncontrollably into Palm Fronds at Popular California Coast

A chopper flying above a well-attended southern California coastline unexpectedly commenced twirling uncontrollably, finally descending rapidly and crashing into a cluster of palm groves as onlookers observed.

Recordings uploaded on the internet show the aircraft beginning to twirl near the shoreline then plunging near the perimeter of the shore, where it becomes wedged between palm groves and a steps near the coastal road.

Rescue Operation Information

The Huntington Beach fire department reported five persons were rushed to the hospital involving a pair who were in the helicopter and were “safely pulled from the wreckage” after the accident on that day.

Three persons on the road were injured. Details on their injuries were still under review.

The cause of the crash was not yet disclosed.

Planned Function

The department mentioned the aircraft was linked to an annual “Cars N Copters” benefit occasion scheduled for the following day.
