The forty-third annual Golden Joystick Awards took place on Thursday, and in a stunning performance, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 claimed the title of the biggest winner. This standout role-playing game by Sandfall Interactive secured the coveted Ultimate Game of the Year award, along with honors for Superb Storytelling and Top Visual Design.
Enhancing the developer's success, its skilled performers also received individual awards. Jennifer English received Top Lead Actor for her portrayal as Maelle, while Ben Starr earned Supporting Performance Award for his work as Verso. Furthermore, Sandfall Interactive itself was honored as Best Development Team. Altogether, Clair Obscur and its creative team collected 7 awards throughout the event.
Other major winners featured Ghost of Yōtei, which was awarded Best Audio Design and Top Console Title, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, receiving Best Indie Game (Self-Published) and Best PC Game. It is important to note, the bulk of Golden Joystick Awards are chosen by the public, with only 4 awards—Critics' Pick, Rising Star, Hall of Fame inductee, and Streamer Selection—judged by critics.
