Air travel have resumed at Scotland's primary international airport after a major technical issue at the control tower halted all operations.

All aircraft movements were suspended after an IT issue that arose around 08:30.

Several flyers found themselves stranded in jets at the stand while the issue persisted.

Operations Restart with Residual Impact

A statement indicated at 10:40 that operations had restarted, and expressed gratitude to passengers for their "understanding and cooperation".

Nonetheless, considerable delays are anticipated to affect schedules. Flights to London Gatwick, Bristol, Amsterdam and Frankfurt have been axed, with many others experiencing delays.

Officials had initially projected that a significant number of movements could be affected.

"Passengers are advised to contact their airlines for the most up-to-date details on their booked journeys," was the consistent advice.

Source of the Issue

The airport attributed the widespread suspension to an systems failure with its air traffic control provider.

Travelers continue to be advised to check the status of their flight before heading to the airport as residual delays are worked through.
