Synagogue Assailant Was Released Under Bond After Rape Detainment, Police State

Location of incident

According to police officials, the suspect was arrested under investigation of rape and was out on police bail at the time he carried out a lethal vehicle and stabbing assault targeting a Manchester synagogue.

Adrian Daulby and Melvin Cravitz were killed in the attack on Thursday, while three people are still receiving medical care.

Police suspect that the attacker may have been influenced by "extreme Islamist ideology" and announced that additional suspects, aged from late teens to mid-forties, had been arrested under suspicion of commission, preparation and instigation of acts of terrorism.

The following day, families of the deceased men paid tribute to their family members, hailing them as heroes who lost their lives protecting people.

The 53-year-old victim and the 66-year-old victim died in the attack when the attacker drove a car against bystanders prior to stabbing people on Thursday morning.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed Mr Daulby was hit by police gunfire as they shot the suspect shortly after the incident was reported.

Family Statements

Mr Daulby's family stated he "lost his life in the act of courage to save others" and his final act "demonstrated extreme bravery and he will forever be remembered".

The second victim, from Crumpsall, was working as a security guard at the religious building.

Honoring his memory, his loved ones said: "He was so compassionate, caring and constantly tried to converse and get to know people.

"He was devoted to his wife, family and loved his food. He will be sorely missed by his partner, family, companions and neighborhood."

Probe Launched into Officer Actions

An independent police watchdog announced it would examine the employment of deadly weapons by armed police dealing with the incident, which happened on Yom Kippur, the most sacred occasion in the Hebrew year.

Officers with firearms inadvertently killed Mr Daulby, while worshipper another individual was also shot by police resulting in major wounds.

The investigation will concentrate on the "circumstances surrounding the fatal police shooting of Jihad Al-Shamie", as well as "if law enforcement may have caused or been involved in the demise of the man later discovered with the fatal gunshot wound".

Assault Particulars Disclosed

Anti-terrorism authorities also provided more information about what happened in the period leading to the assault at the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation synagogue.

Through an announcement released to the press on Friday, a senior officer stated: "According to reports from eyewitness statements that a man was seen acting suspiciously near the temple before he was approached by protection staff and left the area".

During that moment, the incident was not reported to police. A short time after, "the suspect returned in a car and began his violent assault," Mr Taylor continued.

Police are applying for legal orders to extend the custody of all six people currently detained, he additionally stated. Earlier, Greater Manchester Police said additional persons - two males in their 30s and a female in her 60s - had been arrested under suspicion of commission, preparation and instigation of terror-related activities.

Firsthand Reports

Rabbi Daniel Walker was conducting services when his place of worship was attacked and described witnessing "evil and hate" as a man began "ramming the entrance, throwing large containers, attempting everything possible to gain entry".

Commending the rapid response of congregation members, he told media outlets: "I witnessed genuine heroism, it must be noted, and people who rushed to assist others instead of running away. It was astonishing."

The synagogue chairman, the temple's chairman of trustees recounted to journalists, he heard the attacker shouting "this is their punishment for killing our children", prior to "striking with his blade into the windows, attempting to break in".
