One teenage boy was found dead just days after being falsely blamed of taking the cremated remains of a deceased baby during a break-in, an inquest has learned.
Kai Lloyd's mother and father discovered his remains in his bedroom at his Flintshire residence on 19 November 2021.
The inquest learned how his parent received a communication on November 8th, 2021 via social media, from a individual asking if Kai was her child. The message stated: "Tell him thanks for breaking into my apartment."
In a testimony presented to the court, the mother said the individual had been in the media, claiming her infant's remains had been taken in a burglary - a allegation which was untrue.
An official inquiry from police later determined the supposed break-in complainant had "provided false information" and "it now appears that said items was never stolen in the first place".
News coverage about the alleged stolen remains generated social media comments, and although Kai was not identified in the messages, his parent said individuals "knew it was him".
The "online posts were extremely distressing", she said.
She explained that her son had been identified with moderate ADHD, and as part of that condition, other peoples' views genuinely were important to him.
"It would have hurt him deeply," she said, "especially when this was not true".
The teenager was arrested at home, but nothing was found. He was transported to a police station and later released under investigation.
Police said they would be in touch, the hearing heard, but had not reached out to the relatives by the moment of his death.
His parent said her son "became isolated" after the arrest and "repeatedly inquired me whether I had heard anything from the police", because his condition meant sometimes "a minute could feel like days".
When she talked to him about the supposed incident, she said her child told her he had gone into the house because the resident who resided there had said he could utilize the toilet whenever he needed, but denied taking anything.
In a combined testimony between her and her husband, Mrs Lloyd said her son was being bullied online after the allegations.
The inquest learned that a 19-year-old encouraged the teenager to kill himself.
She had no concerns on the night before he passed away, explaining how she had heard him "chuckling and joking".
She portrayed him as a "compassionate, affectionate" young man, and said her "family is totally devastated".
He had been "clearly concealing his worries", she stated, noting that he could not stand to have anyone "have negative thoughts of him".
The hearing heard from educational personnel at the local High School.
On 8 November, she "overheard some boys discussing that Kai had been arrested and that was the first I heard".
"He told me... he'd done nothing wrong," she continued.
After the discussion, the educator said she rang Kai's parents' landline and provided a voicemail saying she had communicated to the student about the accusations.
The proceedings learned his family said they did not receive that communication.
Lead investigator informed the hearing he would await reports regarding what enhancements had been made to dealing with suspects with ADHD, before determining whether he should make a prevention of subsequent fatalities report.
Delivering a narrative conclusion, he said: "Approximately November 8th, 2021, unsubstantiated allegations were made against Kai Benjamin Lloyd, a young child.
"Probably untruths were subsequently embellished and amplified through the medium of online networks.
"During November 11th, he was interviewed by the authorities and after his interview he was released whilst investigations continued."
The coroner determined: "There is no proof that the actions or failures of any agency caused or contributed to his passing and although it was the result of a self-inflicted act it is impossible to determine his intent."
